Proficiency Awards These proficiency awards or certificates were first awarded in 1908, each one being personally signed by Lord Roberts but were for only first and second class. By 1987 all four certificates were being presented. They can be gained for .177 air rifle, .177 air pistol and .22 rifle shooting.
The qualifying scores for .22 rifle with 30 shots fired at three targets are: Mastershot 285 out of 300 Marksman 275 First Class 260 Second Class 225
The qualifying scores for .177 air rifle are shot as a series of three different targets used for competitions, the Mastershot requires three series comprising of 30 shots, the other certificates require just two series. Mastershot 255 out of 300 Marksman 150 out of 200 First Class 120 Second Class 80
The qualifying scores for .177 air pistols are 20 shots fired, 5 at each target. Mastershot 190 out of 200 Marksman 185 First Class 170 Second Class 140
